What is needed for a Domain to be Transferred?

Transferring a Domain to Bowhosts:

Please note that an ISP may not release your domain or domain information until your account with them has been fully settled.

To minimize downtime for your business or website, we require the following information to set up on our servers:

  • Notify your current ISP that you will be transferring your domain to Bowhosts.
  • FTP details.
  • A copy of your database (if applicable).
  • Authorization code (if applicable).
  • Unlocking of the domain (if applicable).
  • The email addresses you wish to retain.

When Transferring Your Domain from Bowhosts:

Please provide one calendar month’s notice and ensure your account is paid in full. You must also request the discontinuation of all services by sending an email to billing@bowhosts.com to notify our accounts department.

After that, liaise with your new hosting provider and follow any further instructions they provide.

Important: Bowhosts operates an automated billing system, which will not automatically cancel services unless we receive written notice from the registered email contact.

Domain Transfer Fees:

  • Transferring a local domain (e.g., .co.za) is currently free of charge.
  • Transferring an international domain (e.g., .com) may incur a fee, often in the form of an annual renewal fee at the time of transfer.
