Please explain the Meaning of Stats on my Website

Website statistics typically include four key metrics: Hits, Page Views, Visits, and Unique Visits. Here’s a breakdown of each term:

1. Hits:

Hits represent the total number of file items downloaded from your website by a visitor. This includes all types of files, such as buttons, graphics, and images, regardless of whether they appear individually or multiple times on a page. Essentially, a single visit to a page that contains several images will generate multiple hits.

2. Page View:

A Page View counts the number of individual pages viewed by all visitors to your site. This metric considers every page accessed, including those viewed by returning visitors. If a user visits the same page multiple times, each visit will count as a separate Page View.

3. Visit:

A Visit is logged when a user lands on your homepage or any other page on your website. This metric includes both new visitors and those returning to the site, making it a broader measure of engagement.

4. Unique Visit:

Unique Visits specifically track new visitors who are accessing your website for the first time. This statistic excludes returning visitors, providing insight into how many distinct individuals are exploring your site.

Understanding these metrics can help you analyze user engagement and the overall performance of your website.
